Pride Opens Season with a Tough Road Win
NASSAU COUNTY, FL., January 3, 2021 — The Pride opened the season with a nail-biting 130-127 victory over the Atlanta Aliens coached by Duck Richardson. “At one point, we were down 21 points in the first half. The Aliens were shooting almost 55% from the 3 point line.” said Coach Joshua. The Pride clawed their way back to be down by 3 points at half time.
Coach Joshua and the coaching staff made some key defensive adjustments to start the second half. Center, Chris Williams and Forward, Thomas Collins were key in this defensive scheme. Guards, Dylon Cormier and Tyrone Young were scoring machines, leading the offensive assault in the fight towards victory. “It was the ultimate team effort” says Coach Williams. The Pride were down 2 players due to team Covid protocols. “The guys were not able to travel because their test results did not come in time for the trip. They will able to reunite with the team in this week’s practice” says Darrin Eakins, President of Basketball Operations. “Although we were missing a few players, the team kept a focus attitude and were able to battle through adversity” said Coach Joshua.
The Pride takes on the St. Mary’s Bucks next week in their home opener. Fans will not be permitted this game, however we will be broadcasting the games for FREE via Facebook and Twitch. Link details regarding the game will be release this week.
