No.3 Columbus Blackhawks Postpone Game vs Pride
NASSAU COUNTY, FL., January 25, 2021 — The ABA continues to grapple with COVID-19-related issues. Saturday's game between the #3 Columbus Blackhawks and #12 Nassau Pride has been postponed, the ABA announced Friday.
Because the Blackhawks’ gymnasium is being sanitized and will not be complete in time for this top ranked match-up, the league agreed to postpone the game.
The ABA is currently addressing its COVID-19 protocols has no intention of pausing the season, and has already implemented stricter guidelines and safety measures during games and practices.
These new guidelines include stricter mask-wearing rules, limiting interaction between players at arenas, and they also limit what players can do when they're away from their team, at home or on the road. These guidelines will remain in place for a minimum of two weeks, and then the league can reevaluate where it is in terms of postponed games.
The hope is that these new protocols will help limit the amount of postponed games. The ABA hopes that this rough patch won't extend much further as a vaccine becomes more widely available in the coming months.
