NASSAU COUNTY, FL., March 8, 2021 — The Pride defeat the Atlanta Aliens & Columbus Blackhawks in their second weekend double header of the season with a nail biting 114-112 victory on Saturday, and a commanding 138-115 victory on Sunday. “This was a good weekend for the guys. We played two very talented Georgia teams. All teams came into the weekend with a chip on their shoulders. The Blackhawks were ranked #6 in the country and beating them along with the Aliens was no easy task. But, we got the job done and it was a great way to finish our last two home games of the season” said Coach Joshua.
Game 1 on Saturday came down to the wire. “Honestly, it was a battle all game. It was tough for us to find a rhythm. We had to overcome a lot of obstacles and defensively, we needed to lock in. The Atlanta Aliens are a great team with a tremendous coach, in Coach Duck Richardson. They really should be a ranked team in this league. There was never a time I felt that we couldn’t pull off the win, we just needed to adjust and execute” said Coach Joshua.
In game 2 on Sunday, the Pride faced the #6 Columbus Blackhawks. The Pride were clicking on all cylinders. “Although the guys were sore and tired from the night before, we were prepared and up to the challenge. We had great conversations that afternoon, ensuring we covered all corners of the game plan” said Coach Joshua. The Pride led early and never looked back. Three players ended with double-doubles figures.
The Pride were tested but answered to the call. “Through 11 games, I really believe we are ready for a deep playoff run” said Coach Joshua. “We are looking forward to the release of the division rankings and playoff brackets to see what is next in store for our team. The guys are excited and ready for the playoff test that lies ahead”, said Darrin Eakins, President of Basketball Operations. “We are thankful for Nassau County allowing us to have a home season. This was a unique season all the way through. We learned a lot and are extremely lucky to have our fans continued support throughout the season. We can not wait until we are able to compete in front of them again” said Dr. Jeremy Coleman, President of Business Operations.
The Pride look forward to their last game of the season this Saturday vs the Florida All-stars.
